Bill English Becomes New Zealand’s New Prime Minister
00:00 GMT 12.12.2016 (Updated: 00:08 GMT 12.12.2016) New Zealand’s governing National Party has elected Bill English, the former deputy prime minister, to succeed John Key as the country’s prime minister, local media reported Monday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Bill English was elected as the country's new prime minister, as Paula Bennett was voted to become his deputy, the Radio New Zealand reported on its Twitter page.
It added that English would announce a cabinet reorganization during this week.
Key announced his resignation on December 5 after eight years in the office.
