"I think that we are doing many good things and, despite the assessment of our critics, the result of these actions is an increased security of our country. I read every other day about being dismissed, about searching for a successor. Nobody is searching," Waszczykowski said in an interview with Polish Do Rzeczy magazine.
Waszczykowski noted that since "certain groups" could not hold a substantive discussion on Poland's foreign policy with him, they" try to disavow me."
In November, the Polish Fakt magazine reported, citing its own sources, that the term of Poland's Permanent Representative to NATO Jacek Najder in office will expire in December and Waszczykowski is interested in taking up the position. The report added that a reason for the move might be the minister's spate with the president. Polish presidential aide Krzysztof Szczerski later rejected the reports.
Waszczykowski, who has been Poland's foreign minister since 2015, served as Poland's deputy permanent representative to NATO in 1997-1999.
