BELGRADE (Sputnik) — On December 7, six G7 countries released a statement where they jointly condemned the Syrian government and "its foreign backers, especially Russia" over their role in humanitarian disaster in Syria. The statement signed by the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, and the United States warns that there should be consequences for anyone found to be committing war crimes in Aleppo.
"This statement of the 'G6' contained a lot of things, including direct accusation of war crimes and threats to everyone who supports the Syrian government. I think it is caused simply by despair and inability of our Western partners to restrain those that they were feeding, those that they created and armed in their only desire to change the Syrian regime," Lavrov said at a press conference after the ministerial summit of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic cooperation (BSEC).
"But it doesn't work that way. And our Western colleagues keep making one and the same mistake," the foreign minister said.
Lavrov underlined that such actions of Western partners led to the creation of al-Qaeda, Daesh and is now contributing to strengthening of al-Nusra Front (the terrorist organizations, outlawed in Russia).
