WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier on Tuesday, Trump’s transition team confirmed his intention to nominate Tillerson, who heads the ExxonMobil oil company, for the post of US secretary of state.
"I look forward to supporting his nomination," McConnell said in the press release."Tillerson’s decades of experience have been widely recognized for "forward-looking strategic planning, managing international partnerships and risk, and focused leadership around the world."

McConnell also said the nominee will bring critical skills, knowledge and capabilities into an important role "after eight years of the Obama administration’s uncertain leadership."
A full review of US national security policy is more than warranted, McConnel added.
