Tehran and Moscow are likely to establish a joint venture on manufacturing helicopters in Iran.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia and Iran are about to start a joint venture on manufacturing helicopters as Iranian market welcomes Russian production, Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, said Tuesday.

"We are ready to establish a joint venture on manufacturing helicopters in Iran, our market has a positive attitude toward Russian production," Nematzade said, as quoted on the Russian Energy Ministry's Twitter.

Earlier on Tuesday, Russian Industry and Trade Deputy Minister Georgy Kalamanov said Iran and Russia had been discussing production and supplies of Ansat and Ka-226 helicopters.

Ansat, multipurpose light twin-engine turbine helicopter, can be used for the carriage of goods and passengers, as well as for surveillance, search and rescue missions and medical evacuation.
