“As soon as the new administration is formed, as soon as those, who will be included in this administration, formulate their practical approaches, it will become clear how deep, how effective we as well as other countries will be able to cooperate with the new US administration in fighting against terrorism and in other issues,” Lavrov said.
He said that Trump’s pre-election statements must be transformed into practical decisions. Lavrov referred to Trump’s remarks concerning US possible non-interference in conflicts unrelated to the United States and his readiness for international cooperation, including with Russia, in the sphere of fighting terrorism.
Trump won November's US presidential election and is set to take office on January 20. During his election campaign, Trump repeatedly called for dialogue with Russia and for combining efforts in fighting terrorism in war-torn Syria.
