"President-elect Donald J. Trump today announced his selection of Stephen Miller to serve as Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the President for Policy," the release stated.
Miller will be responsible for managing speechwriters, directing policy staff and ensuring the president's policy agenda is carried out.
"He [Miller] is a strong advocate for protecting American workers, and will fulfill a crucial role in my Administration as my senior advisor on matters of policy," Trump is quoted as saying in the release.
Before joining the Trump campaign in January of 2016, Miller served as an advisor to several members of the US Congress, including Trump's nominee for attorney general, US Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama.
Miller said in the release he is honored to serve in the Trump administration and to focus on the safety, security and economic well-being of working Americans.
