"I think we will be a beacon of light to the rest of the countries within the EU. After Brexit you might end up with Frexit when France leaves, you might end up with Dexit with the Danes, Nexit with the Dutch. I do believe that Brexit is just the beginning," Nuttall told RT broadcaster.
Nuttall said the far-right Alternative fuer Deutschland (AfD) party was "biting at the heels" of Chancellor Angela Merkel in Germany, while right-wing National Front’s leader Marine Le Pen in France and Freedom Party’s Geert Wilders in the Netherlands looked to be ahead in local polls.
"That is definitely a shift or a kickback against the establishment which is taking place in Western Europe. That is bad news for the EU but, I think, it is good news for nation states," Nuttall said.
France, Germany and the Netherlands have seen a rise in anti-establishment sentiment in past two years, with Eurosceptic parties gaining ground in opinion polls ahead of 2017 general elections.
On June 23, the United Kingdom voted in a referendum to leave the European Union. May said the country would trigger Article 50 of the EU Lisbon Treaty by the end of March 2017, thus kick-starting negotiations to withdraw from the bloc.
