There is no threat to Crimea coming from the Ukrainian authorities or radical groups, the head of the Republic of Crimea said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that the Ukrainian authorities, as well as radical organizations, had started the activity on carrying out terrorist plots in Crimea, and reminded that the FSB had neutralized two Ukrainian groups that had been planning attacks on vital facilities on the peninsula.

"Currently the FSB, the Russian Defense Ministry and Ministry of Internal Affairs take all the necessary measures to provide security. There is no need to strengthen it. All the security services and the counterterrorism center are formed and active. I think there is no threat for the republic," Sergei Aksenov told journalists.

Crimea seceded from Ukraine to rejoin Russia in March 2014, when an overwhelming majority of the peninsula residents voted in favor of the move in a referendum.
