French Permanent representative to the United Nations Francois Delattre said that France asked an immediate meeting of the UN Security Council in order to stop violence in Syria's Aleppo and evacuate people.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — France called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday for being appalled by the recent events in the Syrian city of Aleppo, French Permanent representative to the United Nations Francois Delattre told reporters on Tuesday.

"Against this tragic backdrop, France has asked an immediate meeting of the Security Council to try whatever we can to stop the bloodshed, to evacuate population safely, to assist those in need," Delattre said.

The United Nations claimed earlier it had evidence that Syrian government troops had been going door-to-door in Aleppo, and have killed 82 people, as the resistance by the so-called rebels has crumbled.
