MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Goodarzy said that the people of Aleppo that were split in two are now united again.
"This is not the fall of the city, this is a celebration," he said.
The head of the Christian organization said that people of Aleppo were seen celebrating in the street, but the media would not listen to those from eastern Aleppo who fled to the government-held western part and spoke of militants' cruelty.
According to Goodarzy, the militants, still holding on to a small territory in eastern Aleppo, were jihadists and French media's insistence on treating them as fighters for democracy was hypocritical.
On Tuesday, the Russian reconciliation center said that the Syrian government army was controlling over 98 percent of the territory of Aleppo, with militants present in less than 1 square mile of the city's territory.
Since 2012, Aleppo, formerly the largest city in Syria, has been heavily involved in the conflict between the government forces and militants, which led to the city eventually divided into the western part held by the government and the eastern part controlled by the militants.
