LONDON (Sputnik) – On Wednesday, the Unite trade union announced that more than 75 percent of the British Airways’ Mixed Fleet cabin crew had voted in favor of the strike that will take place on December 25-26.
Meanwhile British airport workers who are also demanding higher wages will go on strike on December 23. Baggage handlers and check-in staff at over a dozen UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Glasgow and Birmingham, will take part in the strike that will last 48 hours.
Unite claims that annual salaries for the British Airways staff were advertised as being between 21,000 pounds ($26,680) and 25,000 pounds, but in practice start at just over 12,000 pounds plus 3 pounds an hour flying pay. Earlier, the crew rejected a two-percent pay rise offer.
