“We have expanded the geography of our cooperation in the sphere of the liquefied natural gas. We are discussing the possibility of cooperation in construction of the Baltic LNG plant,” Miller told the Russian NTV broadcaster.
The Baltic LNG project, in Russia's northwestern Leningrad region, is expected to fulfill the demands of the European and Latin American markets.
In July, a source in Gazprom told RIA Novosti that the structure of Baltic LNG project could be similar to the Sakhalin-II LNG project, the first and currently the only LNG plant in Russia. Gazprom owns 50 percent plus one of Sakhalin II shares, while Shell owns 27.5 percent minus one share, Japan's Mitsui and Mitsubishi own 12.5 percent and 10 percent of the shares respectively.
