MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The opposition and Damascus, along with the mediators, have been engaged in the UN-brokered talks. The latest round of intra-Syrian talks took place in Geneva on April 13-27.
"This process [Geneva negotiations] should be renewed. We want a new round of Geneva talks to be serious, conclusive," Jamil said at a press conference at the Rossiya Segodnya International News Agency.
According to Jamil, Syrian government and opposition, excluding the High Negotiations Committee (HNC) group, are ready to take part in such a meeting.
"We are ready and welcome Geneva negotiations but not for the sake of endless negotiations. We are ready to go to Geneva to develop real approaches for realizing United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254. We hope that this round will be the last where there will be not only a talk about political resolution but the round in which the talk stops and we will be able to move to taking specific measures," Jamil said.
The Syrian government delegation, as well as three opposition groups — the Riyadh-formed HNC, the Moscow-Cairo-Astana and the Hmeimim groups — have been taking part in the negotiations.
The UN Security Council Resolution 2254 was adopted in December 2015 and urges for settlement of Syrian conflict.
