TOKYO (Sputnik) – Russia and Japan intend to approve in the nearest future a specific list of joint actions to overcome the consequences of the 2011 accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, CEO of Russia's Rosatom nuclear corporation Alexey Likhachev said on Friday.
Earlier in the day, Russia and Japan signed a memorandum on cooperation in the sector of peaceful nuclear energy.
"The government [of Japan] and TEPCO [Fukushima operator] have asked us … The work is expected to take several decades, and is rather costly for the Japanese budget.
