MOSCOW (Sputnik) — EU leaders reportedly devoted some 20 minutes to informal discussions on the United Kingdom's looming departure from the bloc in the latter stages of Thursday's summit, after May left.
"She [May] would like to have the question of UK citizens living in Europe and European citizens living in the UK dealt with in the early part of discussions that take place," Kenny said after Thursday's EU leaders summit, as quoted by the BBC.
In June, the United Kingdom voted in a referendum to leave the European Union. Soon after the referendum, UK Prime Minister Theresa May said the country would trigger the Article 50 of the EU Lisbon Treaty by the end of March 2017, thus beginning withdrawal negotiations.
On Wednesday, UK Secretary of State for the Department for Exiting the European Union David Davis said that the British government was not going to release its detailed Brexit plan before February 2017.
