MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu discussed the situation in Aleppo with his Syrian and Iranian counterparts and the Turkish National Intelligence (MIT) chief, the Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday.
"During the talks, the sides exchanged views over the situation in Aleppo. They discussed the ways to normalize the military and humanitarian situation there and specific steps to set the conditions necessary for upholding the ceasefire across Syria," the ministry said.
On Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation said that the Syrian army's operation to liberate the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo from militants was over.
