MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least seven people were killed during the weekend as a result of car crashes caused by winter storms and low temperatures across the United States, local media reported Sunday.
At least two people were killed and dozens injured in an explosion of a gasoline tanker, which skidded off an ice-covered Baltimore highway, causing a 55-vehicle pileup, according to the NBC News.
Other three people were killed in crashes early on Saturday in Maryland and North Carolina, while two separate crashes in Indiana between Friday and Saturday left two people dead, the broadcaster said.
Another pileup including nearly 40 vehicles was registered early on Saturday in New Mexico but police are said to have reported no deaths or injuries.
