"The Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights appeals to the Marshals of the Sejm and Senate to provide media representatives the possibility of full and effective coverage of events in the parliament. According HFHR, lack of full coverage of events in parliament deprives the public of access to reliable information about the most important issues related to the functioning of the state," the foundation said in a statement on its website.
The HFHR reminded of its earlier appeal in October, in which it stressed the importance of journalists being able to record the work of the parliament and make this information available to the public.
On Saturday, demonstrators protested in front of the presidential palace in Warsaw in the biggest political standoff between the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) and several opposition groups. Thousands of people gathered in support of opposition Civic Platform party lawmakers who disrupted the parliamentary session a day earlier in protest of a decision to restrict media access to the Sejm.
