Erdogan's Adviser Hopes Intra-Syrian Talks in Astana to Stop Bloodshed

Yalcin Topcu, a chief adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said that he hopes the intra-Syrian talks in Kazakhstan's capital of Astana will allow to stop the bloodshed in the Middle East.

ANKARA (Sputnik) — Yalcin Topcu, a chief adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressed hope that the upcoming talks between the warring sides in Syria in Kazakhstan's capital of Astana would lead to stopping the bloodshed in Syria.

"I hope that these talks will allow to stop the bloodshed in the region caused by Western imperialists," Topcu said as quoted by the Anadolu news agency.

On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that together with his Turkish counterpart he would offer Syrian conflicting sides to resume negotiations in Astana. The Russian president believes the Astana talks may serve as a supplement to the Geneva talks on Syrian settlement.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev supported this initiative and expressed readiness to provide a platform for such talks.
