UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will vote on the resolution putting the evacuation of Syrian city of Aleppo under the UN supervision later in the day, New Zealand Permanent Mission to the United Nations said Sunday.
"10am [15:00 GMT] Sunday #UNSC to vote on resolution that would facilitate evacuations from #Aleppo and demands access for @UN and its partners," the mission posted in its official Twitter account.
On Thursday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault has urged to convene a new UN Security Council meeting to discuss the situation in Aleppo.
On Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Aleppo was now under full government control with the Syrian army operation to retake the eastern districts completed. Civilians and militants were leaving the city amid a ceasefire agreement between the remaining pockets of resistance and government forces.
