"There is French draft and Russian draft. We discuss how to merge the gap between them," the source said.
The UN Security Council is holding emergency discussions on Sunday devoted in particular to the French draft resolution on deployment of UN observers to monitor the evacuations in Aleppo.
Earlier in the day, Russian envoy to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said that the French draft was "unworkable and dangerous" and that Russia presented an alternative draft resolution.
According to Churkin, the French draft resolution calls for the immediate deployment of unprepared UN personnel to the dangerous zones of eastern Aleppo. This may cause provocations and further disturb the situation on the ground, Churkin said, adding that Russia supported any kind of monitoring but did not agree with France on the modalities of how it should be done.
