The driver of the truck that rammed into a crowd of people in Berlin could be a Pakistani national, local media said Tuesday.

BERLIN (Sputnik) — The suspect behind Monday's deadly truck ramming incident in the German capital may be of Pakistani origin, the Die Welt newspaper said, citing security sources.

Late on Monday, German police said that at least nine people were killed and 50 injured by the truck ramming attack in Berlin. A suspected perpetrator who drove the vehicle has been detained while another person was found dead inside the truck.
