WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution criticizing Tehran’s human rights record.
"Canada, together with the international community, calls on Iran to take concrete actions to fully respect its human rights obligations," the mission stated via a Twitter message on Monday.
The Geneva-based independent monitoring group UN Watch stated that the resolution has added "an unprecedented amount of praise" for the Iranian authorities.
Canada was the main sponsor of the resolution, with the United States and the European Union being co-sponsors.
