"On Monday’s morning, the president received a letter from the prime minister, who proposed to dismiss Salaru from the position of defense minister. The president is informed, he will make a decision in accordance with the Constitution," Ion Paduraru told RIA Novosti.
The meeting between Timofti and head of Moldovan Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu is currently taking place, Paduraru added. Salaru's dismissal might be on the meeting's agenda, he added.
On December 17, Salaru was removed from the post of the deputy chair of the Liberal Party due to the allegations that he offered lawmakers a bribe and attempted to destroy the liberal faction in the Moldovan parliament.
