MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US President-elect Donald Trump will accept that Russia interfered in the US presidential elections if the intelligence services would come to a joint conclusion on the issue, Trump's pick for the White House chief of staff Reince Priebus said.
“I think he would accept the conclusion if they would get together, put out a report and show the American people they are on the same page,” Priebus told Fox News broadcaster in an interview.
On Friday, media reported that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) allegedly concluded Russia was involved in hacking of US election systems to help Trump win the presidency.
Outgoing US President Barack Obama suggested during his last news conference that the cyberattacks were likely initiated "at the highest levels of the Russian government."
Russian senior officials have repeatedly denied Washington’s claims of election-meddling, characterizing them as absurd and an attempt to distract the US public from pressing domestic issues.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow considers media reports claiming Putin personally interfered in the US presidential election "funny nonsense."
