US Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs warned citizens to avoid the area of the US embassy in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Americans should avoid the area of the US embassy in the Turkish capital of Ankara amid reports of shooting near the diplomatic compound, the US Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs said on Monday.

"Reports of shooting near US Embassy Ankara, Turkey-US citizens advised to avoid Embassy area until further notice," the Bureau of Consular said in a Twitter message.
