Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday expressed condolences over deadly terrorist act in Berlin, stressing the need for joint international efforts in fight against terrorism.

German Police Release Only Suspect Held In Custody For Berlin Attacks
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Monday, a truck rammed into the crowd at a Berlin Christmas market on the Breitscheidplatz square, killing 12 people and injuring 49 more. Germany's Interior Ministry described the incident as a terrorist attack.

"This cynical crime has no excuses. The incident confirms once again that joint efforts are needed in fight against terrorism," Medvedev said in a telegram addressed to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, according to a statement posted on the Russian Cabinet's website.

According to reports by the Western media, Daesh terrorist group claimed on Tuesday responsibility for the deadly attack in Berlin.
