BERLIN (Sputnik) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel has spoken to US President Barack Obama in relation to an attack on a Berlin Christmas market which left 12 dead, the German government press service said Tuesday.
"Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Barack Obama spoke on the phone this morning. The US president expressed his condolences to the chancellor in relation to yesterday’s attack on Breitscheidplatz in Berlin," the statement read.
According to the statement, Obama assured Merkel of US support in the investigation.
