Japan 'Strongly Condemns Murder of Russian Ambassador in Turkey'
Japan hopes that Russia and Turkey will cooperate to uncover the truth about the murder of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov in Ankara, a Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday.
TOKYO (Sputnik) — On Monday, Karlov was killed by a gunman at an art gallery exhibition opening in Ankara. Three other people were also injured in the attack. The Russian Foreign Ministry said it considers the attack a terrorist act.
Japan "strongly condemns the murder of the Russian ambassador in Turkey and considers such a terrorist act as unacceptable," Yasuhisa Kawamura told RIA Novosti.

The spokesman also expressed condolences to the family of Karlov and the people of Russia. He said that Japan hoped to "learn the truth about the case as a result of further Russian-Turkish cooperation."
Earlier in the day, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga strongly condemned the killing of Karlov in Ankara.
