MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon expressed her opinion that the best way for Scotland to retain access to the EU single market after the United Kingdom leaves the European Union is to become an EU member itself as an independent state.
“First of all I would say that I don’t think there is a need or reason for the Scottish government to hold another referendum … If Scotland were to become independent, then no longer would it be a member of the European Union, it would no longer me a member of the single market of the European Union, and it would no longer be a member of the single market of the United Kingdom,” May told a session of the parliament’s Liaison Committee.
