MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The position of Russian President Vladimir Putin on adoption of Russian children by US nationals has not changed, the ban was justified and no high-level discussions on the issue are taking place, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.
Last month, media reports emerged, citing the Russian children’s rights ombudsman, that Russia and the United States may soon launch talks on the issue of adoptions after the new US administration would take office.
"There have been no changed in the president’s approach to this issue … The ban has justified itself. There is no discussion of this issue at the moment, I do not rule out that some options are being discussed on some level, but there have been no changes to approaches on the high level," Peskov told reporters.
