The current relations between Moscow and Washington are marred by mistrust, the Kremlin spokesman said adding that Vladimir Putin has consistently advocated for a way out.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian-US relations are currently characterized by an extreme level of mistrust, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday, noting President Vladimir Putin's role in attempting to revitalize ties.

"Extreme degree of mistrust unfortunately accompanies our bilateral relations, which are in a highly sad state. President Putin has consistently advocated for a way out of this state," Peskov told reporters.
