A family spokesperson confirmed Tuesday that the world-famous actress, writer, and advocate has passed away. On Friday, Fisher suffered cardiac arrest during a flight from London to Los Angeles. Moments after touching down on the runway at LAX, an emergency medical team rushed Fisher to the hospital.
On Friday, law enforcement officers said Fisher did not appear well, but over the weekend a family member said her condition stabilized.

Fisher gained renown across the globe for her roles as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy. She was a bestselling author, recently touring Europe to promote her book, 'The Princess Diarist.'
"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning," according to a statement from the actress' daughter. "She will be missed profoundly."
Following the news of Fisher's hospitalization, Harrison Ford said he was "shocked and saddened."
