MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Illegal armed formations performed attacks in Damascus, Latakia, Aleppo and Hama provinces, the ministry said Monday.
“Within last 24 hours, 34 bombardments performed by illegal armed formations have been registered in the provinces of Damascus (16), Latakia (7), Aleppo (6), and Hama (5),” the ministry said in a daily bulletin.
Militants shelled Ain al-Ashara, Alhor, Chekurjak and positions of the government troops near height 962 in the Latakia province as well as Maharda, Suran, Kaukab, Hama, and Hattab in the Hama province.
A nationwide ceasefire between Syrian government troops and several opposition factions came into being at midnight local time on Friday (22:00 GMT on Thursday). Russia and Turkey serve as guarantors of the deal which paves the way for negotiations between the warring parties.
The Jabhat Fatah al-Sham and Daesh terrorist groups, which have been outlawed in Russia, are not part of the ceasefire deal.
