US Awards $177 Million Contract to Build New Army Explosives Plant

US defense contractor BAE Systems won a $177 million Army contract to build a new nitrocellulose explosives factory at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, the Department of Defense said in a press release.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — BAE Systems was awarded a contract for construction and commissioning of the new nitrocellulose facility at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant,” the release stated on Thursday.

Work on the new factory is scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2018, the Defense Department noted.
