MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He added that the volume of money stolen in hacking activities in Russia was estimated at some 0.005 percent from a total amount of electronic money in Russia, while in the Western countries such a proportion was estimated at 0.09 percent.
"During the last period we can see the decline in embezzlement attempts [in Russia via hacking]… The situation in the sphere in the Western countries is much worse than we face," Artem Sychev said at the international forum for information security dubbed Infoforum-2017.
According to Sychev, Russia's authorities prevented hacking actions aimed at stealing some $50 million during 2016.
