TOKYO, February 2 (Sputnik) – On Monday, the Tokyo Electric Power Company, a Fukushima operator, found possible nuclear fuel debris beneath the reactor.
The operator Tokyo Electric Power Company also found a hole on the lower level of the NPP construction under the reactor, damaged in 2011.
The Fukushima disaster took place in March 2011, as an earthquake triggered a tsunami and hit the NPP, leading to the leakage of radioactive materials and the shutdown of the plant. The total of three reactors had been operating at the power plant before the incident.
