MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran, India and Afghanistan are scheduled to meet for a consultative meeting in Moscow on February 15, Zamir Kabulov, the ministry's head of the second Asian department, said.
"The minister has said that we are not closing the door and if they [the United States] are ready to work constructively with regional powers, then why not," Kabulov said.
The diplomat clarified that Washington "should determine what they are planning to do in Afghanistan."
Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, with government forces fighting the continuing Taliban insurgency. The instability has persisted in the country since the 2001 US-led invasion to defeat the Taliban and al-Qaeda in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in the United States.
The lack of control and instability turned the country into home to the largest opium poppy production and distribution network in the world.
