13:37 GMT 08.02.2017 (Updated: 11:32 GMT 06.08.2022) US President Donald Trump assured Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that he would take the issue of extradition of US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, accused of staging the coup in Turkey, to the country, Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said Wednesday.
ANKARA (Sputnik) – The presidents spoke on the phone on Tuesday evening.
"During the conversation of presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Donald Trump, the US president assured that he would take Turkey’s request to extradite Gulen very seriously," Kalin said as broadcast on the NTV channel.
