MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Nigerian Premium Times newspaper reported, citing a spokesperson of Kaduna's police department, that the two archaeologists had been kidnapped at the excavation site on Monday morning.

The special operative forces had been sent to the region to participate in the rescue operation, the news outlet added.

There has not been any ransom demand yet.
