MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The documentary was prepared by Fareed Zakaria, a CNN journalist, and aired on Tuesday at 01:00 GMT.
"Personally, Vladimir Vladimirovich did not have time to get acquainted because it came out at night," Peskov told reporters of "The Most Powerful Man in the World" special report that was broadcast late on Monday.
The CNN broadcaster presented its "The Most Powerful Man in the World" documentary on March 13.
"We read some of the press, in fact everything was as predicted: this is another material in line with hysterical, emotional background based on opinions that have nothing substantial, opinions that are most often absolute fiction," he added.
On Monday, Peskov said that the documentary seemed to have been done "with such a critical bias in line with the further demonization of our country and, possibly, our president," but noted that the opportunity given to the Russian side to participate in the film and outline its point of view was a positive development.
"Vladimir Putin understands us very well. But all that begs an important question: Do we — and does [US President] Donald Trump — really understand him?" Zakaria said in his commentary on the film, published on the CNN website.
The documentary begins with Putin's inauguration and briefly looks into the Russian president's relationship with former US President George W. Bush and ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump in November 2016 presidential elections,
The film also attempts to examine allegations of Russian interference in that vote. Peskov was quoted in the CNN documentary refuting these accusations.
