MOSCOW (Sputnik) — An IMF staffer received injuries to her face and hands, Paris police prefect Michel Cadot said, as quoted by a local broadcaster BFMTV. It said
"IMF: An operation is underway after a person was injured by a suspicious booby-trapped parcel," the Paris police department tweeted.

The police officer said the parcel had been sent by post and described the contents as a "pyrotechnic device, a big firecracker… It was not a bomb, but rather something artificial."

Sources told the broadcaster the cracker was a 30-cm-long (11.8-inch) cylinder. The Paris police department said judicial police had launched in investigation into the incident. It said the injured employee had been taken to hospital.
