The announcement that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will visit Russia next month instead of going to his first meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) sends a disturbing message to US allies, Congressman Mike Quigley said in a press release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Quigley noted that Tillerson affirmed the importance of NATO during his US Senate confirmation hearing, and he calls on the Secretary of State to rethink his decision.

Tillerson's Revised Schedule Shows NATO is 'Clearly Not a Priority' for Trump

On Monday, the State Department announced Tillerson would not attend the NATO meeting in Brussels on April 5-6.
