US Army $98Mln Contract Seeks Helmet Upgrade to Better Protect Soldiers

The US Army has awarded a contract worth up to $98 million to Revision Military to develop a new generation of combat helmets that better protect soldiers from devastating injuries on the battlefield, US Senator Patrick Leahy announced in a press release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Revision Military is based in Leahy’s home state of Vermont.

"The quality of these helmets will protect soldiers from ballistic impacts, while also making them more comfortable with their up to 24 percent lighter build," Leahy stated.

Leahy is also vice chairman of the US Senate Appropriations Committee, which oversees the Senate’s work in writing annual defense budget bills.
