MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Scaparrotti reportedly accused Moscow of "perhaps" supplying the Taliban in committee hearings at the US Senate on Thursday.
"Not a single fact, specific figures or documents – the same slogans, only now in new covers, and absurd accusations," Konashenkov said.
Earlier in the day, Zamir Kabulov, the director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Second Asian Department, labeled the accusations as "absolutely false."
He added that these accusations aimed to justify Washington's failures in Afghanistan.
Taliban is an Islamist terror organization that seeks to establish a strict Sharia law in Afghanistan.
