Rita Akhundova moved to Guangzhou for work in 2015. At first glimpse, China's third-largest city looked dull and disguising, but Rita gave it another chance. She started exploring Guangzhou, and the city surprised her with various discoveries and countless pleasant experiences: futuristic sceneries, charming parks, cozy cafes, book shops, museums and art galleries. To demonstrate how beautiful China can be, Rita started to take pictures and publish them on her Instagram.

Guangzhou, the capital and most populous city of Guangdong Province, is a commercial city and a major port in China.

At first, the city seems very unwelcoming, with its dirty markets, smelly streets and noisy people. However, the photo project Another China provides a second look.

In her project, Russian photographer Rita Akhundova demonstrates another side of China, full of mysterious sights and attractive places.

In 2015, the young woman moved to Guangzhou for work. During her first few months living there, she started to feel depressed by the dull and dusty city, but soon realized she could still find beauty in it.

This photo was taken at Guangzhou’s Xinguang Bridge, an arch bridge that boasts a main span of 428 meters (1,404 feet), among the ten longest arch bridge spans in the world.

“My top secret is simple: I just let everything happen to me,” the enthusiast told her Instagram followers.

“I'm twice alive,” says the description to this picture, taken on the 70th floor of a building in Shanghai.
