'Glowrious' Discovery: World's First Fluorescent Frog Found in Argentina
07:00 GMT 30.03.2017 (Updated: 19:29 GMT 19.10.2022) Meet the first glow-in-the dark amphibian! Scientists from the Bernardino Rivadavia Natural Sciences Museum discovered the South American polka dot tree frog, formally known as Hypsiboas punctatus, near Santa Fe in the middle of March.
The frog's skin is naturally fluorescent. Under natural illumination the frog's skin is a yellowish-brown with red dots, but in the dark under UV lights it glows green.
