WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed the conflicts in Ukraine and Afghanistan, the White House said in a press release.
“The leaders discussed several issues of mutual concern and interest, including the conflict in eastern Ukraine and the situation in Afghanistan,” the release stated on Wednesday.
The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact and pledged their cooperation on these and other issues, the release added.
Merkel met with Trump at the White House last month during her first trip to the United States under the new administration.
