DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — On Sunday, the Syrian army eliminated a major terrorists' outpost in the north of the Hama province.

Earlier in the day, local media reported that the Syrian army had reportedly liberated 80 percent of the territory of the Hama province following offensives in its southern and northern parts. The Syrian army units are now moving toward the Khan Sheikhoun town in the neighboring province of Idlib in the country's northwest that was a site of an alleged chemical weapons incident earlier this month.

"Army units restored Monday security and stability to the towns and villages of al-Masaseneh, Zour al-Heiseh, and Zour al-Teibeh in the northern countryside of Hama, killing 300 terrorists and injuring a large number of them, destroying 20 vehicles, two ammunition warehouses and two tanks," SANA said.

The Syrian troops also foiled an infiltration attempt of the Jabhat Fatah al Sham terror group, outlawed in Russia, in the direction of the army's positions in the southern part of the Hama province.

The Syrian army also liberated the city of Halfaya, the terrorists' largest stronghold in the Hama province.

An operation carried out by the Syrian army and allied forces to eliminate the rest of the militants in the north of the Hama province continues.
